Charter Day: Our day for our Skidmore

May 17, 2024

Charter Day at 51ݶ is a tradition in the making. It marks the anniversary of our establishment as a four-year liberal arts institution in 1922, but it is also a day about a community coming together to declare that it believes in Skidmore, in education, and that Creative Thought Matters.

Together, we reflect on, celebrate, and imagine a bright future for our beloved alma mater. Charter Day is about sustaining – and propelling – our mission for generations to come.

When you give to Skidmore on Charter Day, you’re supporting the students of today and tomorrow. You’re supporting financial aid and scholarships, research opportunities, internships, and the great people and campus that make this education possible.
President Marc C. Conner

Last year, more than 500 alumni, parents, families, faculty, staff and friends rose to the challenge, giving $767,437 to support the current student experience.

Gifts through the Skidmore Fund on Charter Day can be directed to support any of the following priorities:

  • Academic and Faculty Support
  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
  • Friends of Skidmore Athletics
  • Friends of the Tang Teaching Museum
  • McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center
  • Opportunity Program
  • Racial Justice Initiative
  • Scholarships and Financial Aid
  • Sustainable Skidmore
“Charter Day isn’t just about giving back. It’s about investing in our future students who want to explore their individual creative pursuits. It’s your generosity that makes it all possible.”
Anesu Mukombiwa '24

Join us in affirming our commitment to Skidmore’s mission and ensuring its light continues to shine brightly for generations to come.

Charter Day is our day, for our Skidmore.
